VALEGAULT
Born in Châteauguay, Valéry Legault now roams the streets of Montreal and browses flea markets, browsing for abandoned objects that inspire him. Lego, toys, stamps, fabrics and other neglected objects fuel the creativity of the artist, who has them to design paintings by assembling and painting. Added to this creation is a daily practice of
naive drawing and childhood memories. Everything is scribbled, and fed by the materials lying around on the work table: pencils, markers, inks, acrylic paint and varnish.
Self-taught multidisciplinary artist, she made her debut with a bachelor's degree in Art History. Creation is generated by an interest in texture, and she sets about creating small and large zoomorphic pieces; this exploration allows her to develop her decidedly expressionist style, while preserving the raw character of the materials she favors. A goal guides her, namely to find balance and harmony through disorder and incongruity. She works under the pseudonym of Valegault.
